Introduction & Cacao History

We’ll start with a short and fun talk about the history of cacao, from its ancient use in indigenous rituals to its role in Colombia today. You'll learn how cacao grows, why Colombian cacao is special, and how it connects with our culture and land.

Roasting the Beans

Roast like our abuelas used to do

Next, we’ll roast raw cacao beans using a traditional pan over fire. You’ll see how the beans change color, release their rich aromas, and begin their transformation into chocolate. This part smells amazing and sets the mood for hands-on fun.

Hands-on cacao like a local

After roasting, you’ll peel the cacao beans manually, it’s a mindful, calming process. Then, using a stone or hand grinder, you’ll grind them into a rich paste. It’s how it’s been done for generations and connects you directly to the process.

Personalize your chocolate creation

Now it’s your turn to create! We’ll guide you to make your own artisanal chocolate bar using the paste you ground. Choose toppings like sea salt, dried fruits, coffee etc. Pour it into a mold and let it cool; it’s yours to take home!

Making Your Own Chocolate Bar

Sip, taste, and connect

We’ll finish with a cacao cocktail. While we sip, we’ll talk about modern cacao farming, sustainability, and the lives of Colombian cacao growers. Ask questions, share impressions, and relax. this is your moment to connect.

Tasting & Cacao Conversation

As a family we really enjoyed the Colombian Cacao Experience. Extremely professional, informative and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The experience lasts for about 3.5 hours so you really do learn the whole chocolate process. Of course our 10 year old daughter loved making her own bar of chocolate, as did we!!
